There is no denying that the fashion industry has changed since the arrival of clothing giant Shein. Its insanely low prices have undoubtedly captured the attention of many looking for affordable and trendy clothes.
Shein is now stretching its e-retail legs into the real world by opening up its first permanent location in Tokyo.
The new store is set to open its doors on Harajuku’s Cat Street. Regarding needing a place centered around trendy avant-garde fashion, there may be no better place than Harajuku.
Unlike its neighboring stores, however, Shein adds a little twist to the brick-and-mortar. Instead of coming out with bags upon bags of cheap clothing, all its customers will leave empty-handed.
That’s because the shop doesn’t intend to sell its goods. Instead, the new location acts as more of an event space and showroom where customers can go in and try on clothes. If they see something they like, they’ll have to scan a QR code and go online to make the purchase. After which, the item will be shipped directly to them.
