Princess Diana’s Gentle Touch Lives On As Hand Cast, Now Up For Auction

Princess Diana had a golden touch on everyone she came across, spreading her warmth and kindness wherever she went. Now the same hand that touched the lives of many is going on sale. Well, the cast of it, at least.
The figure is a life-size cast of her left hand, including the wedding band on her fourth finger.
The cast was created by famous sculptor Oscar Nemon who was offered a studio in St James’ Palace to work on the piece. The princess had been his last sitter before he passed away in 1985. He was offered a studio in St James’ Palace to work on the piece.
The finished piece is a nine-inch-long model of her hand in incredible detail, with her nails, skin lines, and veins visible.
Nemon had also done the work of Queen Elizabeth II, Winston Churchill, and Siegmund Freud.
The plaster of the People’s Princess’ hand will go under the gavel at Reeman Dansie in Essex. The sale will take place just a day before the premier of the fifth season of Netflix’s The Crown and is said to fetch up to US$45,000.
As this year is the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death, a collection of items she once owned is making its way to different auctions. Earlier this year, her Ford Escort RS Turbo sold for over US$700,000.
