GMC Hummer Creates Off-Roading Electric Bike For Those Who Don’t Use A Truck

GMC’s Hummer EV hit the road running in 2021 with the first, according to the company, all-electric supertruck, which was sold up pretty quickly. If you were one of the others who couldn’t get their hands on one in time, Hummer has another trick up its sleeves with its latest e-bike designed after the battery-powered pickup.
 
Recon Power Bikes has worked with the brand to create the GMC Hummer EV AWD E-Bike, which houses a 48-volt battery and two electric motors that provide a combined 2,400 watts of power, supplying the rider with a top speed of up to 28 mph. After a four-long charge, it can go between 40 and 50 miles.

The Hummer bicycle rides on four-inch tires and is built for all sorts of off-roading adventures. Recon specializes in such bicycles, touting itself as “All Terrain Power Bikes, Made Military Tough.” As such, it’s safe to say that this electric version will be able to support mountain biking and other extreme sports.
 
The vehicle also has three riding modes: ‘Cruise’, ‘Traction’, and ‘Adrenaline’. Cruise offers the most bang for your buck as it goes the longest distance on the least amount of power consumption and is best for commuting and long relaxing rides.

The Traction mode offers front-wheel drive when traveling on slick surfaces, snow, and “loose terrain,” while Adrenaline mode caters to thrill seekers looking to go off the beaten path and ride up mountains and other steep terrains.
 
In terms of design, Rick Latek, marketing director for GMC, notes that “with design cues and inspiration taken directly from the GMC Hummer EV super truck, this e-bike further expands customers’ ability to explore different off-road trails—whether in the vehicle or out on the bike.”

This can be seen in its identical black and white colorway decked out in the Hummer logo along its frame.
 
For those searching for an off-roader bike, the Recon website now takes in preorders with deposits of US$500, with deliveries slated to begin in December. It will cost US$3,999 for a 17.5 Ah battery and US$4,175 for a 21 Ah battery.
