F1 Champion Team Red Bull Racing Designs ‘Winning’ eScooter For The Rest Of Us

While it’s unlikely you’ll ever get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, this year’s winning team is bringing its knack for speed to a different kind of vehicle: an eScooter. 

Dubbed the RBS#01, the eScooter took over two years to design and was engineered by the same team working on Max Verstappen’s champion race car. 

According to the firm, riders can expect “world championship winning performance” from the mobility gadget, which boasts a power-to-weight ratio “a racing car could be proud of.” 

The eScooter comes with 750W of power and 80 Nm of torque, and it can reach top speeds of 45 km/h (28 mp/h) and go for 60 km (37 miles) non-stop. 

Impressively, the device’s carbon fiber chassis means it’s super light-weight, at just 23 kg (50 lbs). Plus, the beginner-friendly scooter is perfect for rookies, with an oversized deck and wheel package that promises a more stable ride. 

Of course, as with race cars, tires are one of the most important components of the RBS#01. Red Bull has equipped it with soft compound Intermediates, which “stick like glue” in any weather or terrain for maximum grip. 

Riders can expect a rather high-tech dashboard, too, with an LCD display, thumb throttle, and no messy wires or cables hanging from handlebars. An integrated LED headlight is attached, so it’s never too dark to ride. 

If you’re thinking of taking the scooter for a challenge, it’s one that’ll hold up. Finite element analysis (FEA) showed the gadget can take up to a 3.5g crash with a 210-pound rider onboard.
