Studio Ghibli Lends Its Animation To Lucasfilm For Newly-Released Short Film
This week, Studio Ghibli sent fans of its animation house and Star Wars fans alike into a frenzy. This came after it teased an opening title sequence to a Lucasfilm movie, hinting at a possible future collaboration.
The Japanese animation studio has confirmed its role in a special hand-drawn short film based around The Mandolorian’s Grogu—or Baby Yoda, for those who still haven’t gotten around to watching the show.

A new tweet depicts a little Grogu surrounded by the Dust Bunnies from Spirited Away, with the title of the project, Zen—Grogu and Dust Bunnies.
The short film was created as a surprise for fans of both production companies in celebration of The Mandolorian’s third anniversary and in anticipation of its third season. The announcement was also accompanied by an image of a little statue of Grogu with what looks like a blurred-out Hayao Miyazaki sitting in the background.

Studio Ghibli’s Katsuya Kondo directed the short, with the music composed by Ludwig Göransson, who has previously worked on Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Zen - Grogu and Dust Bunnies was released on November 12, and is now available to stream on Disney+.
If you’re not a Star Wars fan but love Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki’s last full-feature-length film with the animation house is set to arrive sometime in 2023.
