Elon Musk Issues Ultimatum To Staff To Comply With New ‘Hardcore’ Twitter
In the midst of a staff exodus, Twitter chief Elon Musk isn’t backing down on his demands. Instead, Chief Twit recently issued employees an ultimatum: embrace the new “hardcore” environment or leave.
Citing an internal email, the Washington Post reports that the world’s richest person has told employees that the social media platform’s workforce will “need to be extremely hardcore” henceforth, which could mean “working long hours at high intensity” while maintaining “exceptional performance.”
Those who understood and agreed to the updated terms were instructed to sign a pledge, with a link to an online form attached to the message for employees to indicate their consent to be a part of this “new Twitter.”
However, staff who weren’t keen on sticking around were offered the option of leaving the company with three months of severance pay. All hires have until 5 pm (ET) on Thursday, November 17, to ink their names on the pledge.

According to Gizmodo, the email was confirmed by Gergely Orosz, who pens the Pragmatic Engineer newsletter on Substack, which tweeted a copy of the email for the public, along with a link to a CNN article on the same story.
Currently, Musk has already axed half of the 7,500 staff members at Twitter who were there when he took over. How many more will leave following this ultimatum? With whispers that the Trust and Safety team could stage a mass resignation, the fate of the network seems pretty bleak.
