Home Depot’s Famous 12-Foot Skeleton Is Being Recycled By Fans For Thanksgiving

Booyah—in the blink of an eye, the holiday season is here. For spooky lovers, however, Halloween feels like just yesterday. They’ve taken down the decorations from their yards, save for one.
The Home Depot skeleton has carved (pardon the Halloween and Thanksgiving pun) quite a name for itself, thanks in part to its towering 12-foot height and light-up eyes. Despite its steep US$299 price, the freaky prop has been listed on the resale market for as much as a thousand dollars.
With family gatherings returning to normal and the holiday spirit running high, creative folks are expressing their gratitude for the joy the skeletons have brought and are reusing them for Thanksgiving.

True to their Halloween roots, the skeletons are being dressed up as turkeys, pilgrims, and even as homemakers enjoying a feast with their own skeleton offspring (eat up, boys—you’re all bones!).
Recycling the décor item doesn’t just allow you to stretch your dollar, but it is also more sustainable because you won’t have to get more wasteful decorations to fill the space. There’s no hard and fast rule to leave your skeleton in the cupboard during the other 364 days of the year.
It won’t be a surprise if the lanky prop will stay up through Christmas; if Jack Skellington has succeeded at becoming a holiday icon, who’s to say Home Depot’s skeleton won’t? Hopefully, owners of the skeleton will cover it in warmer garments to protect it from the cold.
