Tesla Makes Its ‘Full Self-Driving’ Beta Available To All In North America
Here’s some good news for Tesla owners: the automaker’s full self-driving (FSD) features are now available to all drivers in North America.
According to Elon Musk, the beta version can be requested directly from the car screen if drivers have already bought the program, which currently costs US$15,000 separately. The add-on allows vehicles to change lanes and park autonomously.
As Mashable notes, only Teslas with the required hardware will be able to run FSD, though the software will no doubt bring vehicles closer to the reality of autonomous driving.

Tesla drivers with FSD simply have to enter a destination into the car’s navigation system and let it set off all on its own, though those at the wheel have to stay alert enough to take over the driving at all times.
Reuters points out that this release comes as the automaker continues to be under investigation by the US Department of Justice over its self-driving claims, so it remains to be seen if authorities will make any move to deter the full rollout.
