Dr Martens x The Met Kick Up A Storm With Hokusai-Inspired Footwear

Dr Martens’ classic boots serve as walking canvases for another timeless collection: Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji landscapes.
Painted by the Ukiyo-e artist in 1831, The Great Wave off Kanagawa continues to draw fascination at its current home in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as on merchandise all around the world. Next to step into the awe-inspiring world of Hokusai is Dr Martens, which has teamed up with the NYC museum to bring three eye-catching styles, of which the famous artwork takes prominence.
The world-famous woodblock print is splashed across the signature 1460 high-top combat boots, complete with a textured finish that mirrors that of canvas paintings.
Next up is a pair of the 1461 shoes, which are decked out in Hokusai’s pastel Fuji from Gotenyama at Shinagawa on the Tokaido work of a picnic under cherry blossom trees.
Both footwear designs feature opulent gold eyelets, along with the classic yellow stitching.
Though, The Great Wave still carries the capsule, quite literally, as completing the set is a structured leather backpack with Doc Martens-esque black leather straps and gold detailing.
The artsy three-part series by Dr Martens x The Met will arrive on the Dr Martens website on November 26.
