While most smartphones come with an application just for reminders, we often find ourselves forwarding important information or typing down our to-do lists in messages to ourselves.

As such, WhatsApp is finally rolling out a new feature that will allow you to converse with yourself—and jot down all your best thoughts—more easily.

The ‘Message Yourself’ function will allow users to send themselves notes, reminders, and even shopping lists to a chat alongside other WhatsApp conversations.

Your own contact will appear at the top of the contacts list on WhatsApp when you create a new chat, allowing you to choose yourself as the recipient to send messages to.

According to TechCrunch, the feature is likely to reach Android and iOS users in the coming weeks, having undergone tests with beta testers, as first reported by WABetaInfo back in October.

The site notes that other users have been using a workaround for some time, by sending themselves messages through the application’s ‘click to chat’ feature. With the new feature, however, all the additional steps are no longer needed.

More importantly, users can now pin their chats with themselves to the top of their conversation list, so they’ll never get lost in the sea of messages.

As Mint points out, WhatsApp rivals Signal, Telegram, and Slack already offer a similar feature to their users, so the application’s devotees can breathe a sigh of “finally” at the long-awaited function.
