Apple Takes Divers Deeper Underwater With Oceanic+ App On The Watch Ultra

With their new app, Apple and Huish Outdoors are able to assist both beginners and experts in the world of diving. The new Oceanic+ software effectively transforms your Apple Watch into a dive computer with a 130-foot depth limit.

If that sounds out of your depth, don't worry! The app can also be useful for those who love swimming and light snorkeling.

Before you head out into the ocean, Oceanic+ can adjust the depth, gas, surface time, and other important factors. Depending on how far you opt to dive, the app will determine the maximum time needed.

Other conditions that the application can forecast to help you on your next expedition and keep you safe include currents, visibility, temperature, and tides. You can even check elevation data, your dive planner, surface time, and no-fly information (which is the time you will have to wait after a dive before getting on a plane).

Huish even uses the Ultra’s haptic feedback and can tap you on the wrist to alert you. According to the company, divers can feel the vibration through a 7-mm-thick wetsuit.
 
Oceanic+ was built exclusively for the Apple Watch Ultra and required a watchOS 9.1 update and an iPhone 8/SE, or later, running on iOS 16.1.
 
The app is free to download on the App Store. However, to access all of its features, you will have to buy a monthly subscription for US$9.99, an annual plan for US$79.99, or a one-day full access pass for just US$0.99.
