Apple Revisits Its Retro Rainbow Logo For New Store Opening

Apple appears to be celebrating its mark as an American success story ahead of the grand opening of its Apple American Dream store in December.

Apple Dream Store will open at The American Dream mall, the second-largest shopping center in the US. The complex, which also has a theme park, water park, and an all-year ski and snow resort, is situated in East Rutherford, New Jersey, just outside New York City.

The company hasn’t shared images of the new retail location. So far, it’s only teased the opening with a modernized interpretation of the classic rainbow logo from 1977.

The colorful emblem is envisioned in 3D, with its stripes connected to one another in a spiral.

Speaking of classic logos, Apple has been toying with the idea of reviving the light-up symbol on the back of MacBooks. The tech giant had to sacrifice the beloved feature, a status symbol in itself, when MacBooks got too slim and could no longer support the weight of this configuration. Recently, though, it filed a patent to potentially bring it back.

Apple also resurrected the rainbow icon briefly, albeit in more muted tones, when it announced the new iMacs in 2021.

Now, back to the new Apple American Dream. The store will open on Saturday, December 3 at 11 am ET (8 am PT). Its design remains a secret, though 9to5Mac points out that it will follow Apple’s newer retail concepts featuring a dedicated pickup zone for online orders, a venue for Today at Apple sessions, and a Genius Bar.

Intriguingly, this retail outlet will be open only six days a week, complying with New Jersey laws disallowing the operation of shopping malls on Sundays. This means that even though Apple American Dream’s grand opening will be held on a Saturday, it will take a break the following day.

Its opening hours will be from 11 am to 10 pm. Just remember that, when in New Jersey, be like the New Jerseyans and don’t go shopping on Sundays.
