LEGO Debuts Foosball Table Kit With Multi Looks & Skin Tones—Including Vitiligo

The World Cup is one of the rare times when people from the far stretches of the globe unite in cheer. Now, hobbyists can save a piece of that spirit all year round with the LEGO Ideas Table Football set, a diverse build that’s not only playable but also seeks to represent sporting enthusiasts of all kinds.

The brick soccer game table consists of 2,339 pieces, including Minifigures with 44 customizable hairstyles and 43 heads that depict numerous facial expressions and skin tones—among which, as My Modern Met points out, is a Minifig’s head with vitiligo. LEGO unleashed the kit on November 1 without putting this feature on blast, which is a thoughtful touch—you can be inclusive without wearing your stance like a badge.

On the topic of inclusion, the set features male and female character heads, reinforcing the vision of sports being for all.

“I have vitiligo,” applauds one fan on Reddit. “Pretty cool to see a LEGO Minifigure with it.”

The build was designed by a 16-year-old Hungarian superfan named Donát Fehérvári, who submitted his concept for a foosball table to the LEGO Ideas platform, where the toymaker reviews design proposals and turns the ones with a considerable number of the public’s votes into reality.

In terms of its mechanism, the table is actually functional for play with poles that can be pushed and pulled to move the tiny professional players around. Instead of the usual 11 players per team, however, the teams here are smaller-scale—both in height and numbers—with each side only containing five players.

With that being said, LEGO brings 43 x 44… 1,892(!) incredible character combinations to keep each match interesting. There are goal counters that help you keep score up to five wins, too.

The kit even has a little trophy cup that the champions of the day can take home.

LEGO says the foosball table is purposefully portable so you can assemble it anywhere and “play ‘away’ or ‘at home.’”

The first to test the mini soccer set were former World Cup winner Thierry Henry and Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford MBE, who are shown going head to head on the foosball table in a campaign video.

The DIY Table Football set retails at LEGO Stores and online for US$249.99.
