Elon Musk & Apple Conclude ‘Good Conversation’ Over Twitter’s Fate On App Store

The short-lived feud between Apple and Elon Musk has come to an anti-climatic end—Musk brushes it off as a simple “misunderstanding.”
 
The mishap began on Monday after the tycoon tweeted that Apple was considering removing the social media app from its App Store.

Musk cited that the reason for the tech giant doing so could be due to moderation standards at Twitter. He then criticized Apple’s demands for a 30% cut of app sales. Users questioned if they were witnessing the beginnings of the fall of Twitter.

 
The Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter CEO even claimed that he would make his own line of smartphones in retaliation for being kicked off the App Store.
 
However, he might have spoken too soon on that front. Apple CEO Tim Cook invited Musk down to the company’s headquarters in Cupertino on Wednesday to chat, where Musk learned that Apple “never considered” removing Twitter from its store. It was a “good conversation,” Musk reflected.

Good conversation. Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so.

Twitter’s recent changes have been well-documented over the last couple of months. With a severe loss in staff, advertisers, and numerous influential people deactivating their accounts, it’s been a wild ride.
 
According to the BBC, the European Union has just told the Twitter boss that he has “huge work ahead” in bringing the platform into compliance with EU rules on misinformation. If he does not comply, he could risk his network being banned.
