Facebook Dating Is Now Scanning Video Selfies To Check Your Age

Meta is preventing minors from slipping past its previous age-identifying measures with video selfie verification.
 
The new process, first introduced on Instagram, prompts users to submit a video of themselves to the company, which will then send it through an AI model to verify that they are over the age of 18.
 
The social media giant has partnered with Yoti, a digital identity company, to reinforce these checks.

A screenshot of the video will be sent to the company, where an age estimate will be calculated based on their facial features. Meta will delete the image after it has received the results from Yoti.

Although, one has to wonder how this will work for people who look younger or older than their actual age.
 
If you’re worried that Yoti might think you’re lying, you can upload your ID instead. It will be encrypted and stored while Meta does the necessary checks. You will also be given the option to decide how long Meta will hold your ID, which will not be visible on your Facebook profile.
 
Once all that has been cleared up, you’re free to scour the site looking for love.
