Blanket-Poncho Made From Upcycled Bird Down Wraps You With Warmth When Outdoors

Now that winter is upon us, most of us are looking to stay indoors and keep warm by the fire. However, for those who don’t want to give up being out in nature just yet, why not take this blanket with you to keep toasty while out in the wild?

Canadian-based Arc’Teryx first debuted the upcycled bird-down blanket in 2021 after creating a subdivision known as System_A. The brand looked to the world of rock climbing, popularized in the mountains of Utah, for inspiration.

That being said, the ReBird Down Blanket isn’t just for brave-hearted bouldering aficionados. Its fireproof capabilities mean you can safely wear it while sitting by a campfire or cozying up to a fireplace without fearing it might go up in flames.

The blanket contains 850-fill recycled bird down reinforced with synthetic down for better water resistance. Arc’Teryx describes the down as coming from a “responsible source.” On top of this, the blanket itself is made from 7D Arato fabric.

It is also partially made out of remnants of old and unusable garments from its ReBird initiative, where customers can send in old clothes, which Arc’Teryx will turn into future products.

ReBird folds down into a compactable carry-along pocket that can be easily stored during the summer months or carried around.

Additionally, besides being able to use as a regular blanket, snap closures on its front allow it to be transformed into a poncho.

The ReBird Down Blanket is sold online for US$550 and is available in white, gray, and mauve.
