King Charles III Unveils First Holiday Greetings Card Since His Reign
Buckingham Palace has released the first royal Christmas card since King Charles III took over the throne, featuring an image personally selected by the monarch and Queen Consort, Camilla, taken just days before Queen Elizabeth II passed.
Snapped by Samir Hussein, the picture in question shows the pair at the Braemar Games in Scotland on September 3, when Charles still held the title of Prince of Wales. His mother’s death was announced five days later.
The chosen image portrays the couple looking lovingly at each other, with the King clad in a beige suit paired with a striped tie, while Camilla donned a matching green hat and jacket with a red bow.
“Really proud that my photo has been selected as the King & Queen Consort’s Christmas card for a second consecutive year,” Hussein shared on Twitter.
Last year, as per Town and Country, the couple’s holiday greetings included a pandemic-era shot of Charles fixing Camilla’s mask at Royal Ascot, as part of the Royal Family’s attempt to encourage safe practices during the unusual time.
As CNN noted, this will be the first Christmas the family will be celebrating without the Queen, who usually took a trip to her country estate at Sandringham in Norfolk during the winter months.
