Visitors To Vegas Could Soon Tour The City In Semi-Autonomous EVs

Trying to get around a new city may sometimes feel like a hassle as you might not be familiar with the transport system. Since you’re on vacation, it makes sense to pass on the reins of driving to someone else.
 
Soon, you can leave it in the hands of Acrimoto’s semi-autonomous electric vehicle for possibly the tour of your life. The company is about to launch a pilot focusing on the Las Vegas strip with an EV that will drive down to your hotel entrance and drive you past views of the city, before reaching your desired destination.

Arcimoto has worked with Faction, which supplied a suite of sensor cameras and radars to tackle collision avoidance and lane assist tasks. Within the vehicle, travelers will find a tablet with a GPD guide of the Las Vegas strip. 
 
The system can drive itself between two points on a predetermined route. If it encounters a problem midway, it can engage with the teleoperator, which will remotely adjust its trajectory line to avoid the obstacle or help with parking.
 
Once you’re done for the day, you can head back to your hotel, where the vehicle will drive itself back to its depot in the Arts District, only five miles from the strip.
 
Arcimoto’s Las Vegas pilot project is slated to start in 2023 with an initial fleet of 20 cars. It eventually hopes to expand to an additional 290 vehicles in the future.
