The unconventional mashup of tech and fungi is thanks to EDEN Power Corp and MYCOAUDIO, who have joined together to create a sound-based art exhibition for Forza gallery in Montreal, Canada.
The body is made of a Raku-fired ceramic shell, and when you crack it open, it houses reishi mushrooms. The sight of the mushroom sprouting out of the speaker isn’t just a thought-provoking piece on how technology affects the lifecycle of nature. It has a real purpose.

The mycelium root structure replaces plastic foam usually found in speakers, offering a literal natural sound.
Each speaker is mounted onto its own podium, where it will play unreleased tracks from local music acts such as Cameron Morse, Varfalvy, Racine, Feu St, Trafic des airs, and others. Additionally, this naturally fortified player will also incite spirituality in its listeners as it is programmed to play meditation guides by Manoj Dias.
MYCOAUDIO is selling these mycelium speakers for US$1,199 to those looking to listen to the sounds of nature and their favorite music simultaneously.
