As Warner Bros. Studios approaches its 100th anniversary, it has one thing to prove to fans: that’s not all, folks.
Ahead of the entertainment behemoth’s global centennial celebrations on April 4, 2023, the studio has rolled out a multifaceted logo honoring its vast portfolio of fan-favorite movies, television shows, and performances by Hollywood legends. Renowned brand design agency Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv was tapped to pay homage to the now-household name launched by brothers Harry, Albert, Sam, and Jack Warner in 2023.
The morphing logomark pairs the newly-redrawn Warner Bros. Discovery shield—created by the same agency—with a dramatic ‘100’ emblem that makes room for icons spanning home entertainment to video games, consumer products and live event franchises, while reiterating Warner Bros.’ storytelling spirit. This versatile branding is underscored by the tagline, ‘Celebrating Every Story’.
According to Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv, the prominent numberforms “provide a weighted counterbalance to the fine lines of the new outlined shield.” With Warner Bros. being home to Hanna-Barbera, My Fair Lady, 42nd Street, Casablanca, The Matrix, Wonder Woman, Looney Tunes, DC Comics, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Friends, Game of Thrones, The Batman, Dune, Bugs Bunny, and so much more, the symbol playfully accommodates the stories of the studio’s diverse intellectual property.
In one instance, you’ll see the ‘100’ as obstacles that Wile E. Coyote (unsuccessfully) maneuvers as he charges after Road Runner. In another, Superman punches through the logo and moves into the fourth wall.
