Pixelated Watch Painted In Vantablack Boasts A Scannable QR Code As Its Face

As far as watches go, very few can double up as their very own QR code and physical blockchain authentication. Most timepieces nowadays are either functional, luxurious, or hyper-futuristic. On the other hand, Swiss indie watchmakers H. Moser & Cie has found a way to blend all three characteristics together.

 
The Endeavor Centre Seconds Genesis is a visually striking watch with a QR code instead of digits for, you know, telling the time. Scanning it with your phone will bring you to the blockchain-verified authentication page for the timepiece.

The code is engraved onto sapphire crystal which is coated in Vantablack. While that doesn’t lend itself to legibility, it makes for a sleek look and means that the QR code will not be so jarring on your wrists.
 
However, one setback is that it is hard to see the leaf-shaped hands in a low-contrast off-black. According to aBlogtoWatch, this isn’t the first time the brand has sacrificed function over style and is most likely just the company’s aesthetic choice.
 
The next thing that might have caught your eye is the pixelated bezel and crown. This was 3D-printed out of titanium, reducing the need for milling and engraving.

Endeavor is 40mm wide and 11.3 mm thick with a micro-blasted stainless steel case. It can stay juiced with a  72-hour minimum power reserve and a 21,600 BPH beat rate. Lastly, it has a gray kudu leather strap to add to its bespoke nature.
 
The watch will be available through authorized sellers and is currently going for a staggering 27,000 CHF (US$29,055).
