Tesla Releases $300 Wireless Charging Mat That Powers Up Three Devices In One Go

Hate charging just one device at a time? Fret not, Tesla’s newly-launched Wireless Charging Platform lets you juice up to three gadgets at once.

The US$300 Cybertruck-inspired charging mat boasts an aluminum casing, paired with ‘FreePower’—a wireless charging module from technology startup Aira. It comes with a detachable magnetic stand that allows the mat to be laid flat or angled upwards. 

As per TechCrunch, this same platform has been used in other devices, including the Nomad Base Station Pro. 

Convenience is certainly the key here, as the charging mat supposedly allows users to toss their devices onto the suede-like surface, and as long as it lands within the platform, it’ll receive 15W of fast charging power.

As Gear Patrol pointed out, Tesla’s release does bear resemblance to an oval-shaped wireless charging pad Apple was rumored to be launching back in 2017, but it never happened. 

9to5Mac reported that a video of the gadget shows that 30 tightly-wound coils lie underneath its surface, a design that matches what the supposed Apple AirPower was touted to look like.
