Sennheiser Earbuds Let You Hear Your Friends Loud & Clear In A Noisy Room

On a night out, one of the most teeth-grinding things is sitting across from someone and not being able to hear a word they say over the chatter of the other patrons and the loud music booming from the speakers.
 
Here to save the day—and your hearing—is Sennheiser’s Conversation Clear Plus, which gives you the power to listen to everything around you in a crowded environment. Just to be clear, these aren’t over-the-counter hearing aids, which recently gained approval by the Food and Drug Administration, nor are they a solution for people who fear they may have a real problem with their ears.

Instead, these earbuds are a supplement for those who have trouble listening in noisy places and want to get through one dinner without leaning far over the table to hear their partner.

At first glance, Conversation Clear Plus looks like any standard pair of wireless earbuds, but instead of streaming music, it’s enhancing the conversation around you. According to Engadget, Sennheiser bought Sonova earlier in the year, which is a company that produced hearing aids such as Phonak and Unitron. 
 
With Sonova under its helm, the buds are meant to reduce background noise and enhance voices directed at you. Furthermore, you will be able to fine-tune your hearing experience by adjusting the amount of noise reduction provided by the buds and employing the companion app the delve deeper into your listening experience.

The device comes with three settings: Relax, Communication, and Streaming. The last is an interesting addition, as you can stream music and content through these earbuds.
 
Conversation Clear Plus has nine hours of battery life and an additional 27 hours when it’s stuck back in its case.
 
Sennheiser is retailing these dialogue-enhancing earbuds at US$850. Pre-orders for the Conversation Clear Plus began on January 5, and sales will officially start on January 20.
