Boeing 737 Plane Gets Converted Into A Luxe Villa In Bali

When you board this Boeing 737, be prepared to stay for the long haul—it’s a destination, rather than part of a journey. This narrow aircraft was once part of the Mandala Airlines fleet, but when the Indonesian airline went defunct in 2014, it put the brakes on the plane’s adventures.
That’s not to say the aircraft’s high-flying life is over. The decommissioned Boeing 737 was acquired by Felix Demin, a Russian entrepreneur and world traveler, and it’s now taking a vacation while it’s being converted into a private villa in Bali, Indonesia, where the businessman is based.
The Private Jet Villa, parked on a cliff near Bali’s Nyang Nyang beach, is still under construction, but its owner has shared renderings of what the wanderlust-worthy getaway rental will look like.
The journey starts out at a wooden gate, where guests will be led up to the plane via stone steps.
Inside, they’ll be greeted by a barebones interior decked in pale wooden fixtures. While the aircraft will no longer have its original seats and flying equipment, it retains the portholes that offer a view of the scenic landscape while softly letting natural light in. Guests will not need to look out of a window to notice that one of the wings has been transformed into a patio.
The two-bedroom villa includes two bathrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen.
Its former cockpit houses one of the bathrooms. It’s worlds apart from the claustrophobic unit often associated with airplane restrooms. This one is zen and homey, and it comes complete with a stone bathtub.
The first-class experience extends to the outdoors, where you’ll find another patio that blends into its green surroundings.
Air, land, and water come into harmony with an infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean.
It’s a flight of fancy most can only dream of, as a red-eye experience will set travelers back for 114 million Indonesian Rupiah (US$7,300) a night.
While the overhauled plane will only be ready in July 2023, it’s already listed on Expedia.
