Famous ‘Initial D’ Car Shrinks Down To Fit On Your Desk As A Mouse

The famous anime and manga series Initial D has indelibly impacted pop culture, especially in popularizing boxy 80s-styled Japanese cars. The most famous motorcar to come out of the series is a black and white Toyota AE86 which Fujiwara Takumi drives.
 
Fans of the series will now have a chance to own a replica of the vehicle themselves in the form of a mouse. This shrunken-down version is a detailed homage to the actual car as it features the same livery as Fujiwara’s vehicle and the logo of his family’s tofu restaurant (Fujiwara Toufu Ten) printed on the driver’s door.

The mouse-slash-car also sports the same five-armed wheels, muffler, and an Initial D logo in place of a license plate. When in use, the AE86’s fog lights and taillights light up to add another layer of realism. 
 
Initial D first began back in 1995 and ran through until 2013 and was illustrated by Shuichi Shigeno. The story follows Fujiwara Takumi as he starts as a delivery boy for his family business and soon turns into a drifting legend. The story was, for many, their first introduction to street racing, cars, and 80s Japanese pop culture.

The mouse is a licensed product from Toyota and the manga’s publishing house, Kodansha. And to round off the Initial D experience, there is also a mouse pad featuring a picture of Fujiwara standing by his car.
 
For fans looking to bring a little street racing to their desks, the mouse is on sale for JP¥6,600 or US$50.
