Hasbro Turns 9YO’s Potato Head Into Real Spud-tacular Toy With Mighty Jaxx

Potato Head is rooted in many childhoods, fueling kids’ imaginations both on their shelves and as a character on Toy Story. Launched in 1952, it was also the first toy to be advertised on television.
Today, the tubular character continues to inspire children, including nine-year-old Stella Peaches, who has designed a Potato Head of her own for charity. And as with the premise of the Pixar films, Stella’s Potato Head has come alive—thanks to a collaboration between Hasbro and Mighty Jaxx, a popular toy collectible studio based in Singapore.
Stella is the daughter of renowned graffiti artist Stikki Peaches, whose love of art has clearly made an impact on her. The nine-year-old spends her free time drawing, coloring, and painting, and she’s passed this passion down to the beloved toy.
The figurine, standing at eight inches tall, imagines Potato Head as an artist in colorful paint-dotted garb, and wielding a paintbrush and a palette.
On its website, Mighty Jaxx uses they/them pronouns to introduce the collectible, a nod to Hasbro’s entire Potato Head line coming out as gender-neutral, and leaving behind honorifics, in 2021.
Unlike other spuds, Potato Head is a rather complex carbohydrate, living out whatever rich story or personality dreamed up by its owner. That’s why Stella Peaches’ Potato Head toy has a few customizable traits too, like interchangeable blue and pink crowns and detachable glasses, which are also polka-dotted.
For US$159, the arty Potato Head will be a spec-tater on your desk. Mighty Jaxx says all proceeds from its sale will be donated to help underprivileged kids at a leading children’s charity.
