Samsung Upgrades Galaxy Buds For Free To Capture 3D Audio While You Record Video

Samsung is linking up its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and smartphone cameras with an upgrade to let you record audio on your earbuds while your phone captures a video.
 
The new 360-degree binaural audio for videos could be a valuable tool for those who love taking videos with their phone, offering a little surround sound to their recordings. 
 
When played back through headphones, the audio almost mimics exactly what the ear has heard and translates it into a video.
 
“The feature picks up 360-degree sound using a microphone in each earbud, placing viewers at the center of a roaring festival crowd or beside a bubbling brook in the middle of a forest. In addition, users can pop in connected headphones and play it back on their device or social media channel to hear lifelike and immersive sounds that emulate an in-person experience,” says Samsung.
 
Of course, this is not a stand-in for professional equipment, and those looking to produce videos professionally should probably look into a mic.

However, for the everyday smartphone user looking to bump up the quality of their content for social media, or even if it’s just to share with your friends in the group chat, the free upgrade is a much-welcomed addition.
 
The feature will be available through a ‘360 Audio Recording’ app that is coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.
