AI Tool Helps You Keep Eye Contact With The Camera Even When You Look Away
Speaking in front of a camera does not always come naturally to some people, and it might be hard to be engaging and charismatic while also reading off from some notes. Nvidia, a company specializing in creating GPUs, has developed a solution to help camera-shy individuals look more engaging.
The company is introducing a new AI feature to its video conferencing software Broadcast with a beta called ‘Eye Contact’. What it does is help people maintain eye contact even if they were to look away from the camera.
The software corrects your gaze, mimics blinking, and even eye color to keep it as realistic as possible. And if someone were to look too far off-center, it would transition between digital and real eyes.
Eye Contact makes users appear natural in front of the camera and enables them to read from their notes or even the chat on a live stream. This could be a handy solution for presenters or content creators to foster a deeper connection with their audience. That said, a constant gaze into the camera can also call for an uncanny valley situation.
The tool will require a GeForce RTX 2060 video card and 8GB of RAM. According to PC Mag, Nvidia is still developing the function as there are millions of eye colors and lighting combinations they can’t test that would need to be fed into the AI system.
