Could Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Really Come With No Physical Buttons?
Popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has sent the internet into a tizzy with a new rumor about the forthcoming iPhone 15 line. A recent Twitter thread claims the iPhone 15 Pro may appear buttonless with “solid-state volume and power buttons.”
Citing an earlier tweet from October 2022, the insider said the newest iPhone model could come with a button similar to the home button used on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8, replacing its current mechanical button design.
Instead of pressing a physical button, users could be able to feel haptic feedback when the new “buttons” are pressed, without the component actually moving, which Hypebeast describes as similar to the MacBook’s Force Touch trackpad.
The main reason for such a change would be to improve the water resistance of the iPhone, whereby fewer parts mean fewer chances of wear and tear over time. Could this new design be expanded to the iPad or Apple Watch too? You might find out soon enough.
