Samsung Moves A Home Control Panel Onto Your Wrist With Galaxy Watch Update

Fancy changing the thermostat, controlling your TV, closing the blinds, and answering the door from your couch? Well, now you can.
 
Samsung has just issued a new update to its Galaxy Watches that essentially places a whole home control panel on your wrist.
 
The update connects to the company’s SmartThings app and now gives users more control over the devices in their houses. The air conditioning, air purifiers, lights, speakers, and more can also be toggled from your wrist.

In addition, Samsung is also providing customers the chance to live stream footage from their Ring and Nest doorbell and home cameras right onto the Galaxy Watch so that they can quickly check on who’s outside or what’s happening within their homes without having to pull out their phones. 

 Those with Ring can also use the watch and access two-way talk directly from their smartwatch.

 
Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, Device Platform Center, notes, “Smartwatches and wearables are becoming increasingly popular, and this new update allows users to maximize their connected home living experience.”
 
While the sentiment is true, it’s also interesting to see how dependent people are becoming on smartwatches as their capabilities continue to expand.
