Carb lovers, get a load of this—or nearly 14,000 square feet of it. The world’s largest pizza is hot out of the oven, courtesy of Pizza Hut.
On January 18, to celebrate the comeback of the cult-favorite New York-style ‘Big New Yorker’ pizza after 24 years, the chain teamed up with YouTuber Airrack, who’d just achieved 10 million subscribers, to set the record for largest-ever pizza together. The super-duper-sized pie—following the recipe of the Big New Yorker pizza—comprised about 13,653 pounds of dough, 4,948 pounds of sweet marinara sauce, more than 8,800 pounds of cheese, and about 630,496 regular and cupped pepperoni.
Spanning a surface area of 13,990 square feet, the pizza is now recognized by the Guinness World Records as the “world’s largest pizza.” It was baked on-site in pieces at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The Big New Yorker pie you can order at a Pizza Hut is an XL 16-inch monstrosity with oversized, foldable slices, crispy crust, a sweet marinara sauce, and a Parmesan oregano seasoning. It will hit participating locations nationwide from February 1.
As for its muchmore generous counterpart, it was donated to feed mouths at several charities in Los Angeles.
