Virgin Atlantic Renames Plane In Honor Of Queen Elizabeth II

Virgin Atlantic welcomes a newly-named plane to its fleet, the ‘Queen of the Skies’.
 
The renaming honors Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September 2022. Since then, many establishments have stepped forward to pay respects to her. Recently, the Canadian Mint created black coins with the monarch’s portrait on them to commemorate her passing.
 
The A33Oneo plane has the Union Jack printed under the cockpit, with the ‘Queen of the Skies’ slogan printed below. On the underside of the wing, the carrier has its registration G-VEII, dubbed as a tribute to the late monarch.

“Just like Queen Elizabeth during her historic 70-year reign, Virgin Atlantic is proud to fly the flag for the United Kingdom around the world,” Corneel Koster, chief customer, and operations officer at Virgin Atlantic, explains in a statement.
 
Virgin Atlantic is no stranger to coining its aircraft after notable women in history. Previously it had called some of its fleets after Princess Diana, British suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst, and singer Billie Holiday.
 
The A330neo will officially join the fleet in April of this year.
