Ferrari Plans To Add Fake Engine Noises To Its Electric Supercars

By the time 2025 rolls around, Ferrari will apparently have its first fully-electric supercar take to the roads. After a previous stint with the electrified SF90, the Italian makers are cashing all in on the EV movement with its upcoming iteration.
 
However, a critical aspect of the vehicle will be missing: the sound of it revving its engine up. Any car fanatic can tell you that the sound a Ferrari makes is arguably the best bit of owning a supercar (besides having all eyes on you on the roads)—the glorious boom of the V8 engine as the car speeds up.
 
Electric vehicles may have figured out how to help the environment, but they haven’t gotten around to capturing what makes a combustion engine fun to drive.
 
With that, Ferrari wants to save fans from the deafening quiet of an EV with an amplification system. According to Bloomberg, the new feature’s patent was first spotted by analyst Oddo BHF.
 
In the patent, the device is supposed to reproduce and amplify the sounds made by the electric motor. The amplifier will most likely be routed at the rear of the vehicle. 
 
According to the same report, CEO Benedetto Vigna stated in June that sound is essential to a Ferrari. Each car and engine has its own sound, and with that, it could be expected that the electric vehicles will develop a noise that departs from the traditional roar of the classic Prancing Horse.
