Samsung Wants You To Ditch The Case With Gorilla Glass-Built Phones

Over time, tech companies have removed the home button, the headphone jack, and charging bricks from smartphones. So, could Samsung now want us also to ditch the phone case?

 
Samsung has just announced the arrival of Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to its phones, which means that cracked screens are probably going to be a thing of the past.
 
Corning claims that the latest iteration of the Gorilla Glass can fall from a height of one meter (3.28 feet). Furthermore, it can sustain drops onto surfaces such as concrete and asphalt. However, this doesn’t mean you should be careless with the device and try to test this theory out for yourself.
 
Instead, you can watch someone else repeatedly throw a phone onto a hard surface in the video below.

 
The announcement comes ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked conference, which is being held on Wednesday; since there were no particular models revealed via Corning, it’s safe to say that Samsung might be introducing the screen onto the imminent Galaxy S23 lineup.
 
It’s also unknown if the tech company will be employing the glass onto both the front and back of the phones, but considering the S22 has a protective layer on both ends, one can assume it might do the same for the new devices too.
