Internet Archive Taps Into Nostalgia With Old-School, Working Calculators

Wish you could go back to when you’d waste your time in school playing around with your calculator? Now, thanks to the Internet Archive, you can take a step back to your good old school days and fiddle with it again.
 
The ‘Calculator Drawer’ was created with the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (MAME), which focuses on reviving old arcade machine emulations. This interactive digital library hosts 14 different types of devices, including discontinued versions from Texas Instruments and Hewlett-Packard.

MAME’s open-source framework helped integrate actual images of the classic calculators into each simulator, making each one feel as realistic as possible.

With the emulation, you can relive trying to solve quadratic equations or crafting linear graphs. Thanks to the fact that the calculators are entirely functional, you can press on the keypads and controls. They even turn on and off in their unique ways. If you wish, the UI works with your keyboard or even on your phone.
 
While adult life has pretty much eliminated the need for graphic calculators or anything that can handle more than just simple arithmetic equations, the nostalgic effect of seeing some of these discontinued devices is enough to have you feeling as if you’re in sitting in the back of algebra class once again.
