While most other luxury labels have dialed back on the saturation, Kate Spade New York has long been an unabashed bright spark. Three decades on, its hues and shapes have proven to be its secret to success, dabbing an indelible imprint onto shoppers’ minds.

Now, ‘Kate Spade Green’ is PANTONE-official.

The two color-led companies have teamed up to make the newly-minted green the star of Kate Spade’s 30th-anniversary celebrations. Kate Spade Green first debuted in 1993, alongside the launch of the New York label, and the rich hue is now enjoying a second abundant harvest for its milestone.

“This spring we partnered with PANTONE to create a signature shade, and a bright collection made for the season,” the fashion brand details. “Green is a key part of our history, but it also stands for new beginnings. It’s optimistic, bold, and fresh—full of promise and possibilities. Introducing kate spade Green, our heritage hue that’s ready to bloom.”

Green is also the color of spring, so it’s apt that PANTONE’s Kate Spade Green will make its first appearance in the most bountiful time of the year.

In a statement published on FashionUnited, Liz Fraser, chief executive and brand president of Kate Spade New York, describes that the color distills the “vibrant and optimism” that the company has embodied over the past 30 years while also serving as a touchpoint for its future.

Laurie Pressman, vice president of the PANTONE Color Institute, explains that the tone—signaling “the spirit of promise and possibilities”—has a dash of “the optimism of a sunny yellow” to spark curiosity and inspire people to think out of the box.

Kate Spade Green will be infused into the brand’s spring capsule collection spanning bags, apparel, home products, and more. Included in the mix is a modernized version of Kate Spade’s 1993 Sam Icon bag, as well as a PANTONE mug and notebook.

For its anniversary year, Kate Spade will set its pink clover aside in favor of the green, with the newly-officiated hue taking over packaging and global store designs new and old.

In time for New York Fashion Week, Kate Spade’s green, stripes, and polka dots will be splashed across the iconic yellow cabs from February 10 in Manhattan.

In other green-lit news, PANTONE recently named an official color for avocados.
