Sailor Moon, defender of the universe and the hearts of the innocent, defeated every villain she came across in style and knee-high boots.
The superheroine has been a role model for many growing up, and the franchise’s quintessential aesthetic has influenced a generation. As a way to honor the impact the anime and manga have had on pop culture, Jimmy Choo is channeling the fictional shoes and turning them into a new collection that fans can wear loud and proud.
Kicking it off is Sailor Moon’s inspired footwear with a pair of knee-high hot pink boots, dotted with crystals and topped off with a crescent moon near the lip of the shoe. Of course, no outfit will be complete without a bag, and Jimmy Choo delivers a cross body decked out in panels from the manga.
The boots, in particular, follow a previous partnership between the luxury shoe company and the manga series, which imagined a pair of boots covered entirely in Swarovski crystals for the 30th anniversary of Sailor Moon.
Following this, the new range embodies Sailors Mercury and Mars with a pair of blue ankle boots and signature red pumps.
Next in the collection is a pair of forest-green heeled combat boots and playful platform dress shoes that take after Jupiter’s feisty spirit and Sailor Venus’ childlike wonder, respectively.
Naoko Takeuchi, the brains behind Sailor Moon, expresses how Jimmy Choo is her “favorite cool brand” and exudes the same type of fashion and youth that represents her mangas.
The shoes will be available worldwide from February 14 onwards, with a special pop-up shop at Isetan in Shinjuku from February 15 to 21.
