You’re probably used to seeing regular Pepsi cans along the aisles of a grocery store, but what about special aluminum bottles?

To celebrate the Super Bowl LVII in Arizona, the PepsiCo Design and Innovation team has come up with a limited-edition Pepsi Zero Sugar bottle that pays homage to the beauty of Phoenix’s landscape in the lead-up to the Big Game.

Only available within the region, the special look was inspired by the state’s vibrant communities and stunning landscapes. As Pepsi puts it, the Valley of the Sun’s picturesque scenery has long inspired artists, and it continues to with this bottle.

The illustrated design features the flora and fauna of the Arizona desert, including key elements such as cacti, bushes, coyotes, snakes, birds, and other wildlife often found in the area.

Of course, with the Super Bowl in the mix, there are also subtle nods to football in the form of a player running in the foreground, and a football-shaped constellation among the stars. Other Arizona Easter eggs are littered throughout.

While printing a gradient effect on packaging is usually challenging, the team was able to create a vivid purple-to-orange effect on the aluminum surface, mimicking the beauty of a sunrise.

“With this aluminum bottle, we wanted to capture the moment of opportunity and unmatched energy when the day starts, and the sun reveals the cultural oasis of Phoenix within the Arizona desert,” says Carl Gerhards, Senior Director at Pepsi North America.
