Herman Miller Creates Versatile ‘Passport Desk’ Ideal For Working From Home
During the pandemic, many shifted from working in office cubicles to slogging away at home. Caught unawares, people would make do with anything—using the dining table, couch, or even the bed as a makeshift office space.
With lockdowns now a thing of the past, most have returned to corporate settings, while some remain at home. For those in the latter group, Herman Miller has come up with a new ‘passport desk’ tailor-made for how you work in your living space.
As Gear Patrol notes, working from home is inherently different from being confined to a designated space in an office. There’s the opportunity to move around, with some starting their day at their desks before lounging on the couch or heading to the kitchen to multitask.
As such, the Passport Work Table is specifically designed to follow one’s work patterns throughout the day, allowing you to transport it to any corner of the home and turn it into a comfortable workspace.
Resembling an office chair, the Passport’s small footprint and four roller wheels enable it to move around even the tiniest spaces with a breeze. Not to mention, it’s height-adjustable up to 45 inches high, so it can be tweaked to be the perfect height for any chair you’re seated in.
While the desk was designed with those working from home in mind, Herman Miller posits it can be used in professional and educational settings as well. In fact, privacy screens and bag hooks can be purchased separately for those looking for more privacy at home or in the office.
The table comes in two sizes, both with enough surface space for a laptop, notebook, and even your choice of beverage. As the company’s president Ben Watson describes, Herman Miller’s design ethos has always centered around the “convergence of work, life, and play.”
