Shipping Containers Transform Into Rugged Mobile Home For Outdoor Getaways

Camper maker Loki Expeditions harkens back to its roots with its latest Discovery Series, transforming shipping containers into rugged, off-road vehicles that make compact homes for those exploring the wilderness or seeking adventures.

According to HiConsumption, when the company first began, it exclusively worked on shipping containers, turning unwanted products into bespoke mobile marketing booths, before heading into the realm of automobiles.

Now, with its latest launch, the company is taking shipping containers and combining them with medium-duty truck chassis to form a rectangular cabin on wheels. Renders on the site show a Peterbilt Model 220 that measures 16 to 20 feet in length.

As per the firm, one mobile home can sleep up to six individuals, inclusive of all the amenities you’d need for a trip out in the wild. This includes a wet bath, cassette toilet, on-demand water pump, water purifier, induction cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, and even a Wi-Fi router.

To help the vehicle survive the most difficult terrains, the Discovery Series habitats boast four-season insulation, complete with special glass windows that are suited for high altitudes and extreme conditions due to a built-in pressure system and double glazing.

Furthermore, each mobile home is fitted with a 360-degree camera system, utility LED lights, retractable canopy, full-sized spare tire, screen door, roller blackout blinds, bug screens, gear cargo boxes, cargo bay, and more to battle the elements.

The space can be paired with different truck chassis, and can be purchased fully built and furnished, with pricing varying based on the model. All vehicles come fully equipped with up to 1,520 W of solar power, a 2,000 Ah lithium battery bank, and a 10,000 W inverter and charger.
