Earlier this year, John Deere agreed to a right-to-repair deal with farmers in the United States, allowing owners to fix equipment without being restricted to only the company’s authorized parts and service facilities.
Now, in another step towards a more sustainable ecosystem, the brand has launched its first all-electric zero-turn mower. Unlike electric vehicles that require a designated charging port, the Z370R Electric ZTrak Mower can be juiced up at any standard power outlet.
Despite it running on batteries, the lawnmower’s fully-sealed battery allows it to be used both in dry and rainy conditions, with the 3.56 kWh battery capable of traversing up to two acres of land on just a single charge.
For convenience, the equipment comes with a wide LCD screen that allows its driver to monitor battery levels in three modes, adjusting the settings based on an individual’s preferences or yard conditions. The mower can even be monitored remotely from an accompanying application.
As this newly-launched mower does not require owners to refill the gas tank or change its oil, the firm posits it will be a better choice for those eager to get things done around the house, allowing them to work faster and stay running for longer.
“Everyone has different needs… That’s why it is important for us to provide our customers with a broad range of mower options without compromising performance from gas machines,” said Eric Halfman, Go-To-Market Manager, Riding Lawn Equipment at John Deere.
