Linkin Park Debuts Anime Video For Unreleased Track Sung By Chester Bennington

For the 20th anniversary of Meteora, which propelled hits like Numb and Faint into the public’s consciousness, Linkin Park has revisited its archives and plans to re-release the album with never-released tracks and memorabilia on April 7.

Included in Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition is Lost, a track that was recorded for the 2003 album but never made it to the final version. For the song’s long-overdue debut, the band has commissioned an action-packed fantasy music video inspired by anime.

According to Warner Records, Lost encapsulates the group’s “uncontainable energy” into “an anthemic catharsis catapulted by Chester Bennington’s simultaneously vulnerable and vital vocals.”

As for the animation, it utilizes the explosive world of artificially-intelligent art generators, and was produced by pplpleasr and Maciej Kuciara’s Web3 studio, Shibuya, with AI production by Kaiber.ai. 

Five other unreleased tracks will be added to the tribute album, along with never-before-seen footage, demos, live shows, and B-sides.

Bennington tragically passed away in 2017, so it was a surprise for the band to unearth more of his work from decades back.

“Finding this track was like finding a favorite photo you had forgotten you’d taken, like it was waiting for the right moment to reveal itself,” notes Mike Shinoda.

“For years, fans have been asking us to release something with Chester’s voice, and I’m thrilled we’ve been able to make that happen in such a special way. I think they’re going to be floored when they hear and see all the incredible unreleased songs and video footage in Meteora 20,” the band’s vocalist teases.
