US Postal Service Honors The Love For Pets On Endearing Forever Stamps
Five decades after the first ‘Love Forever’ stamps were issued to commemorate Valentine’s Day, the United States Postal Service turns the spotlight on a special kind of love this year: the affection people have for their pets.
Featuring two of the country’s most popular species of furry friends—cats and dogs—each 50th-anniversary stamp evokes “warmth and playfulness” with an image of a cuddly creature resting its front paws on a big red heart.
As the USPS notes, doting on pets has myriad benefits. The Ohio State University’s Veterinary Medical Center reported that being a pet owner can help buffer stress, lower blood pressure, and even encourage individuals to stay in shape.

First painting with oils on wood panels before scanning and editing the images digitally, Art Director Ethel Kessler designed the stamps using original art by Chris Buzelli.
These stamps, meant to add a touch of whimsy to Valentine’s Day cards, can still be used past February 14 on letters throughout the year. Head here to purchase a sheet of 20 for US$12.60.
