Strong shoulders are entering the high street, as H&M has just announced an upcoming tie-in with the house of Mugler in what could be one of its biggest collaborations in a while.
The Mugler H&M Collection honors the vision of Mugler’s creative director Casey Cadwallader, who is reputed for his architectural, body-positive designs that accentuate the frame of the individual, like illusion bodysuits and spiral-cut denim.
The range will be imbued with “the unique and vibrant spirit of Mugler,” says the fast-fashion retailer in a press release. Mugler’s late founder, Thierry Mugler, helped carve a new era for women’s fashion with the solid inverted triangle silhouette of exaggerated shoulders and corset shapes. The style came to be known as “power dressing.”
H&M kept its announcement short and sweet, stating that more details will be made known later. What’s clear, however, is that the selection will reach select stores and be available online in Spring 2023.
