Microsoft Brings Bing AI Chatbot To Mobile Apps, Skype With Voice Input

Following the recent integration of its new artificial intelligence model into Bing, Microsoft has announced the more powerful search engine will now be available through its mobile app and Edge browser app on iOS and Android.

In addition, the technology giant is merging the update into messaging platform Skype, so users will be able to use AI search results during a text conversation to supplement participants with relevant information.

Now, in any chat, users can call on Bing with just a simple @Bing and ask it questions just as you would in the regular chat mode on desktop. Even better, answers can be given in the form of bullet points, text, or a “simplified response.”

According to TechCrunch, the idea of bringing a chatbot into a messaging app isn’t new, as Google tried a similar service with its Allo app in 2016. Though, that was before the rise of capable language models such as GPT-3.

Furthermore, those planning to use Bing AI on mobile apps can access information via voice input. Users will be able to dictate questions to the bot, with Bing using Microsoft’s text-to-speech technology to answer in audio.

Fluent in more than 100 languages,  Bing is on its way to rivaling other chatbots as the premier source of information in the digital age. However, the company is still working out kinks in the software to get it to work “responsibly.”
