‘Pac-Man’ Game Maker To Open Six-Story Arcade In Tokyo’s ‘Electric Town’

If you’ve taken a trip to Tokyo, Japan, you may have visited Akihabara—more commonly known as ‘Akiba’ or the ‘Electric Town’, due to its densely packed buildings full of manga, anime, and all the video games you could think of.

Soon, the bustling neighborhood will welcome a new addition: the first Bandai Namco game center in the vicinity. Not only will the building be home to one of the largest collections of arcade games there, but it will also span a total of six stories all on its own.

According to Time Out, this arcade is so large that it has 46 consoles just for a single game of Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs 2X Boost. Of course, it’s likely games by Bandai Namco will make an appearance, including its famed Pac-Man, Gundam, and Ultraman titles.

In addition, the building will host special events, including drumming sessions and lotteries where fans can stand chances to win goods. For those more interested in card games than video games, ‘Decks Stadium’ will serve as an official store and trading space for like-minded gamers.

While it remains to be seen if Bandai Namco’s arrival can successfully replace the hole left behind when Sega closed all of its Akihabara arcades, there’s no doubt gamers will have a great time exploring the hundreds of claw games, arcade boxes, or the whopping 800 Gashapon machines.
