This London Soccer Stadium Will Soon Have F1 Karting Tracks On Its Bed

Fans traveling to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could soon do more than catch a soccer match, as the club has recently agreed to a 15-year-long deal with Formula 1 to build the world’s first in-stadium electric karting track below its pitch.

The race tracks, which will open to the public later this year, come as part of the duo’s plan to launch a new academy that could possibly help identify the next drivers behind the wheels of an F1 car.

According to a press release, the karting facility will go below the stadium’s iconic South Stand, showing how it’s possible to use the same space for multiple sports at the same time.

The one-of-a-kind experience will include separate tracks for adults and children, both of which have been accredited by the National Karting Association—pointing towards the space being a possible venue for future championship races.

In addition, the two partners will work together to develop educational activities for schools in the area to engage the youth in motorsport and promote pathways in engineering and software development as potential careers.

“The karting experience will be a destination and place that families, friends, and aspiring drivers from all over the world will want to visit and enjoy, engaging new audiences and offering an accessible entry point to the world of motorsport,” said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.
