Wedding Planning Firm Wants Stressed Couples To Express Love Via AI-Created Vows

Perhaps the worst time writer’s block can hit anyone is when they’re sitting down to pen their wedding vows. It’s not hard to imagine how trying to fit all the reasons you love someone into a short paragraph can seem pretty daunting. But not anymore, it seems, as one wedding planner platform, Joy, thinks that artificial intelligence could save you on your special day.

The startup is introducing its new OpenAI-powered ‘Wedding Writer’s Block’ to help all the lovebirds out there find their voice at the altar. 

Brides and grooms-to-be can head onto the website to fill out information regarding their relationship, such as their values, what they love most about their partner, and how they would like the vows to be written. From there, they will be given options to map out their love in the stylings of Shakespeare, Rumi, an astrologist, or even a friend.

But suppose you’re looking for something even more out of the box for your AI-generated vows. In that case, you can also choose to declare your love in the manner of a pessimistic ex—if you’re looking for a night on the couch before you’ve even said “I do”—or a TikToker, and you can even explore what your partner means to you through the expansive vocabulary of a… pirate.

Vows aren’t the only thing that the platform offers. It can also compose wedding speeches, thank you notes, registry gift ideas, and even help guests think of polite ways to decline an invitation.

According to Futurism, CEO Vishal Joshi mentioned in a press release that the company held a survey and found that 89% of its participants struggled with putting their love into words. And while AI has since proved helpful in many regards, Joy is still marketing the generator as an aid for first drafts to get you up on your feet.

That being said, there are probably some out there who would memorize it word for word and regurgitate the speech at the alter. Whatever it is you choose to do, just make sure it won’t land you in the dog house should your partner find out.
