Google’s suite of cloud-based apps is getting a new look to improve usability and remove clutter. The reworking will affect Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Google Slides.
The new upgrade will keep simplicity as its top priority and showcase a fresh, straightforward design. For example, the top of the page in Docs, Slides, and Sheets will display the user’s most utilized features for quick access. Google will also improve other tools like comments, rulers, backdrops, and gridlines.
On the other hand, Drive users can now select multiple items and carry out batch operations on them. New suggestions, including type, owner, and last modified, will also be introduced for a more effortless search system. Key actions will be surfaced inline for “increased productivity.”
Google mentions that some features in these apps will be moved around to declutter the interface. “These key visual and interactive design changes will help you get your best work done faster by emphasizing the tools within our products used most frequently,” states the company in explaining why the overhaul was taking place.
