Attachable Keyboard Turns This E-Ink Tablet Into A Typewriter

Typewriters may have been the ultimate no-distraction device allowing their user to focus on a sole task and nothing else. You couldn’t be swayed by social media or online shopping waiting for you in a different browser; it was just you and your words. However, since technology has given us laptops and PCs, sometimes it can be hard to get work done without straying off to mindlessly doom-scroll somewhere else.

reMarkable is introducing what might be the modern typewriter in the form of the reMarkable 2, an e-ink tablet that can hook up to its Type Folio keyboard, a first for the company after specializing in readers and note-taking devices.

The Type Folio has full-size letters, numbers, and function keys that provide a tactile feel. ZDNet does note that after a hands-on experience, it noticed a little delay when typing. However, that could probably be chalked up to the fact that the tablet mixes handwritten and typed-out notes on a single page, and the formatting might get in the way of a seamless flow.

The keyboard attaches to the main device via magnets, and when you’re ready to write instead of type, you can fold it away. 

Type Folio will come in Sepia Brown and Ink Black faux leather finishes and retail for US$200 for just the keyboard, while the tablet will set you back US$300.
